Social Media Trends For 2022

Social Media Trends For 2022

Social media is one of the most effective marketing tools, but it is constantly changing and evolving. New platforms are constantly appearing and disappearing (remember Myspace?), and algorithms are often updated or changed completely.

So if you advertise your business through social media, it can be useful to keep up with the latest social media trends. Here are five social media trends for 2022.

1. Social Media Trends For 2022: The Power Of TikTok

When TikTok first become popular many business owners dismissed it as an app for children, but in reality TikTok is so much more than that. The app has experienced serious growth over the last year, and now there are over 100 million users on TikTok (and people continue to sign up every day!). This includes millions of people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and even 60s. So if you want to increase your social media engagement, you may want to consider setting up a TikTok account.

2. The Removal Of Cookies (And The Rise Of Analytics)

Google announced earlier this year that they would be removing third party cookies to improve user privacy. This will affect digital marketing as most marketers and business owners use cookies to target ads to specific audiences (and they also use them to learn more about user’s clicking habits). Going forward marketers will need to embrace analytic tools (such as Google Analytics) to find out more about their users.

3. Consumer Needs Will Become The Main Marketing Drive

Over the last few years AI intelligence has been tailoring content for users depending on their interests. Now users expect a tailored experience that personally suits them. This is why most marketers will create social media marketing campaigns that are tailored to the specific needs of their target audience (rather than general ads that appeal to a wider market).

4. Influencer Marketing Will Continue To Evolve

Influencer marketing has exploded in popularity over the last few years. In 2022 we can expect it to become more regulated and sophisticated. For example there will be more influencer marketing companies connecting brands with influencers, and campaigns will be tracked more effectively to improve the success of future campaigns.

5. The Metaverse Will Become Mainstream

We’ve all heard of the metaverse – but what exactly is it?! It refers to an amalgamation of the virtual world and the real world, and the metaverse movement was initially led by the gaming community. Now many companies and brands are realising the power of the metaverse. It can be used to hold virtual meetings, it can be used to personalise consumer experiences and it can improve customer service. So we can expect to see more and more brands using the metaverse in 2022!
