It’s our birthday – here’s what I’ve learnt

It’s our birthday! Or it was, in January. But’s that small business for you – blink and 6 weeks have passed. I’ve certainly learnt a few things over the last 2 years, it’s been a ride!

Here are a handful of tips and small business ideas that I’ll use to help me organise my business in the next year.

If it works. Do it again

It’s a simple as that. Don’t over think it!

Enjoy the ride

Easy to say and hard to do. Try to stop every now and again to enjoy it. Better still write it down (I’ve not but I wish I had).

Follow up

Always. I know if feels like there is too much to do and not enough time but opportunities can come from the most unexpected places – don’t overlook anything. Set yourself some achievable goals to help get it all done.

Keep good accounts.

Better still keep them online using a software such as There are so many amazing timesaving integrations and insightful analytics available – you’ll save time and get to know what’s working in your business. Boring I know but you’ll love me for it.

Be kind to others and be true to yourself

It’s your chance to be the person you want to be remembered for – who wouldn’t want to make the best of that opportunity!

There is always someone one step ahead of you, and one step behind

Comparisonitus is completely normal and unavoidable, no matter where you are in your business journey. You can learn from both those behind and infront of you – treat both with the equal respect.

Success seems to come to the last one standing.

Having now worked with over 40 successful small businesses, they all have a few common features. However the one that is common amongst them all is they continue to learn and grow despite all the bumps in the road. Hang on in there.
