Search engine optimisation (also known as SEO) is one of the most effective ways to boost your businesses online presence. This is because SEO improves your search engine ranking, so your website appears in more search results. And we all know that more traffic = more customers = more money!
But what are the current SEO trends? SEO is constantly evolving and changing, so it is important to keep up with new SEO trends if you want your website to stay on top.
Here are five SEO trends for summer 2022.

1. SEO Trends For Summer 2022: Keyword Clustering
Improve your SEO game by focusing on keyword clustering, rather than single keywords. In the past singular keywords such as “Etsy shop” could drive traffic to your website, but now it seems that people are having more success if they cluster keywords together. For instance, they may use “hand-made stone bracelets Etsy shop” to generate more traffic. These keywords make seem long and unwieldly, but trust us; they can be very effective!
2. More Long Form Content
Video content may be getting more and more popular, but that doesn’t mean written content is dying out. In fact, there has been a recent trend leaning towards long-form content. This is because Google believe that long-form content is “E-A-T”; it has expertise, authority and trustworthiness.
Currently any blog post longer than 1,000 words counts as long-form content, but ideally the content will be between 1,500-2,000 words. If you’re not sure what to write, we suggest trying buyer’s guides or in-depth pieces about a subject that will interest your target audience.

3. A Rise In Image Optimization
Images have always been a part of SEO, but recently image optimisation has gained more traction. Companies are starting to optimise their page for visual search (as well as keyword search), and doing so can significantly improve your traffic through Google Image Search. So be sure to add your keywords to the alt-tags on all of the images on your pages!
4. Giving Existing Content A Refresh
The internet is constantly being updated, so it can be tempting to forget about older content – but this is a big mistake. Taking time to update popular pages on your website (including the home page and popular blog posts) will help to increase the bounce rate on your website, improving your overall search engine ranking.
5. Semantic SEO
Semantic SEO is a new SEO trend that separates certain keywords from others. For instance, if you search “laptop”, you will get different results to if you searched “best laptops”. The first results will generate e-commerce sites and wiki results, while the second result will show review pages. This is to improve search results for users, but it can be useful for website owners too.
